Who is DJ Nez?
Representing Atlanta, GA by way of Flint, Michigan, DJ Nez is one of the hardest working DJs in Atlanta. Like many DJs, he got his start doing house parties and various events around the city. He quickly became a master at mixing. Just ask V-103, as DJ Nez placed in the top two of the station’s DJ Mixing Contest in Atlanta, GA. His unique style of blending records in ways never thought possible quickly caught the attention of one of the Southeast’s most known DJs…..the legendary DJ T-Roc of Rocharder Entertainment. Once on board with Rocharder and ideas and plans started to flow, DJ Nez was essential in the next step: the now world famous Rocharder DJs was formed with DJ Nez being named the President. The Rocharder DJ coalition has grown to over 90 hand selected DJs who play throughout Atlanta, New York, DC, Dallas, Jackson, Nashville, San Antonio, Birmingham, Jacksonville, Baltimore, Philadelphia and other major cities as well as internationally in locations such as Germany and France. Most recently being coined as a celebrity show and tour DJ, he is the official DJ for musical legend and platinum recording artist Jesse Johnson (The Time/Purple Rain) as well as Goldy (Universal). DJ Nez has been a feature DJ for such acts as the Shop Boyz, Young LA, DFB (Parlae, Buddie), Tay Dizm, Ray Lavender, and Archie Eversole. DJ Nez is a major supporter of independent artists, before they make it big. He has supported and can be credited for breaking such records as, to name a few, J Futuristic’s (Formerly JMoney) “First Name Last Name”, Shawty Lo’s “Foolish”, R.Kelly’s “Supaman High” featuring OJ da Juiceman, TKNCash’s (Disturbing Tha Peace) “1 of Deze”, and Yung D’s (Three 6 Mafia/Hypnotize Minds) “Don’t I Look Good”. He has been featured in Rocharder Magazine, SIR Magazine, Six Twelve Magazine, Hot Block Magazine as well as Ozone Magazine. He was nominated for DJ of the Year at the Hot Block Awards in Atlanta. DJ Nez is known not only for blending and record breaking, but he is also the Atlanta DJ who comes to mind when seeking versatility. He may be seen spinning one night at Primal (an upscale downtown venue with a capacity of 2000plus), another night at Crucial (purely urban hip-hop/rap), and yet another night at a local tavern spinning Old School R&B, and keeping each crowd rocking! He is a go to DJ for select corporate events, (Coca-Cola, Guess/G by Guess, upscale boutique events, nationally publicized charity events) private parties at fashion boutiques and celebrity shows and tours.
Other venues, to name a few, include Justin's, Over The Edge, Geisha House, Room Service Lounge, Frequency, Pure, Jays Place, Miami, Poole Palace, SugarHill, Banana Wind, Gold Bar, The Tavern @ JR Crickets (Camp Creek/Old National), The Crowes Nest and an upcoming monthly upscale event “The Elite Crowd” at The W Atlanta. Currently you can find him moving the crowd at Club Crucial on Monday nights, Friday and Saturday nights from 9-2 at The Tavern @ J R Crickets, and several venues throughout the country as his travel work resume continues to grow. DJ Nez keeps his ears to the music of the streets, head to the sky and yet his heart remains in the community.
Dedicated to the game as well as the youth, DJ Nez was recently the feature DJ for Project Walk a Mile in My Shoes, a national charity campaign to collect and distribute shoes for the less fortunate. Major supporters included notables such as Russell Simmons and Diddy, who also featured the charity event on his blog. DJ Nez hosted the official mixtape for the event. The music includes a compilation of a variety of inspirational songs to give listeners an extra push towards achieving their dreams. He was a major sponsor in a Teen DJ workshop held at the YMCA in Atlanta, and a featured speaker for the 13 annual Booker T. Washington Hip Hop Summit held at the historic Tuskegee University. Additionally, he was a proud sponsor of ASCAP’s Writing Sessions Live in the Studio, an educational event for hopeful songwriters. The event, originally launched November 2008 at SAE Institute, is held monthly at Georgia State University in the Alumni Center.
DJ Nez’s resume continues to grow as he recently signed with Too Fresh Entertainment as his official management team. Lately he functions as a DJ/A&R Consultant for notable record labels. He is frequently booked for several local and national projects including national speaking engagements. He is founder of 360 Spins DJ School, and he can be heard live twice a week on his own radio show mix show “The Presidential Preview”.
